Do you want to sing?

Here you are a beautiful song, you can watch the video from youtube:

Although its singer and author, Amy MacDonald sings it very fast, you can find it very easy to sing. Do you want to try?

Here you are the lyrics:

THIS IS THE LIFE

by Amy Macdonald

Oh the wind whistles down
The cold dark street tonight
And the people they were dancing to the music vibe
And the boys chase the girls with the curls in their hair
While the shy tormented youth sit way over there
And the songs they get louder
Each one better than before

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

So your heading down the road in your taxi for four
And you’re waiting outside Jimmy’s front door
But nobody’s in and nobody’s home ’til four
So you’re sitting there with nothing to do
Talking about Robert Riger and his motley crew
And where you’re gonna go and where you’re gonna sleep tonight

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

And you’re singing the songs
Thinking this is the life
And you wake up in the morning and your head feels twice the size
Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna sleep tonight?

Where you gonna sleep tonight?

Wanna talk not so formal?

Probably you have the feeling that your English is sometimes so formal that it shows you have learned it at school or in private lessons, but when you are abroad you notice that the language spoken in the street has nothing to do with that “academic” English. Do you want to learn some informal words? listen to this song, I have highlighted some words in bold just for you to notice them. Do you know what they mean?

Bust Your Windows

Jazmine O’Sullivan

I bust the windows out your car
And though it didn’t mend my broken heart
I’ll probably always have these ugly scars
but right now I don’t care about that part.
I bust the windows out your car
After I saw you laying next to her
I didn’t wanna but I took my turn
I’m glad I did it cuz you had to learn

I must admit it helped a little bit
To think of how you’d feel when you saw it
I didn’t know that I had that much strength
But I’m glad you see what happens when
You see you cant just play with people’s feelings
Tell them you love them and don’t mean it
you’ll probably say that it was juvenile
But I think that I deserve to smile ha, ha, ha, ha, ha

I bust the windows out ya car
You know I did it cuz I left my mark
Wrote my initials with the crowbar
And then I drove off into the dark

I bust the windows out ya car ha,
you should feel lucky that was all I did
After 5 whole years of this bullshit
Gave you all of me and you played with it

I must admit it helped a little bit
To think of how you’d feel when you saw it
I didn’t know that I had that much strength
But I’m glad you see what happens when
You see you can’t just play with peoples feelings
Tell them you love them but don’t mean it
You probably say that it was juvenile
But I think that I deserve to smile
Bust the windows out yo car
But it don’t come back to my broken heart
You could neva feel I how I felt that day
Until it happens baby you don’t know pain
Ooh Yeah I did it (yeah I did it)
You should know it (you should kno it)
I ain’t sorry (I ain’t sorry)
You deserved it (you deserved it)
After what you did to me (after what you did)
You deserve it (you deserve it)
I ain’t sorry no no ohhh(I ain’t sorry)
You broke my heart so I broke you car
You caused me pain (you caused me pain)
(So I did the same)
Even though what you did to me was much worse
I had to do something to make you hurt
Oh but why am I still crying
Why am I the one who’s still crying
Oh oh really hurt me baby
really, really hurt me baby

Hey hey hey hey hey
Now watch me you
Now watch me
Oooh I bust the windows out your car.

Land’s End

It’s well known that the way of Santiago comes from everywhere and ends into the Cathedral where the  apostle’s tomb is…

Well, this sentence has two false statements: one is that there are no mortal remains of the apostle in that beautiful cathedral, the other one is that the end of the way of Santiago ends in Compostela, this picture is located in the real end of the way of Santiago. The sculpture represents the most important tool to make the way…

Do you know where it is located?

Another place from the wanderer

Here you are another picture, this time is a far place from here: it’s a church build by Petr, the great in somewhere in Russia, the church is called the Church of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, better known as the Church of Our Saviour on Spilled Blood, a religious monument erected on the banks of the Neva in the place where Emperor Alexander II was assassinated on 1st March 1881.

Do you really know where it is?

Where is this beautiful building?

This building is known as “La Terraza”, it’s an “Art Deco” building made of wood, on the ground floor there is a restaurant, and on the first floor there is a wonderful bar which manages jazz music and concerts, it is near La Coruña, and for some time it has been moved to that city, but now it’s located in the original town. Although I am from Vigo (and it’s well known the rivalry between Vigo and La Coruña) I think it’s the most beautiful bar in the world.

Do you know where it is?

Let’s talk about HEALTH.

Many times we are so centred on education that we forget some important, even VITAL aspects of our pupils lives, one of them is health. Many times, the lack of good health make our pupils feel unable do their best at school, with their homework, even attend regularly to our classes. To improve our knowledge about health, how our body works, or at least how to do before any health crisis, I will provide some web sites which deal with children and youth health, specially thought for kids, just if you want to have a look at them:

http://kidshealth.org/kid/

This is, in my opinion, the best web site about health for kids, clear explanations, fun movies, lots of interesting interviews, interesting links, etc.

Other interesting web sites are:

http://kidshealth.org/

It is related to the former web site, but more general.

http://kidshealth.org/classroom/

It’s part of the previous one, but oriented to school.

http://mercyweb.org/childrens/

It belongs to a Hospital Group, it is interesting.

http://www.diabetes.org/for-parents-and-kids/for-schools.jsp

Only about diabetes, but it’s interesting because it tells how kids, parents, teachers and schools should deal with diabetes problems.
